Maasai Mara Safari Weekend - March 31 to April 2

Marvel at the miracle of life in the wild as we embark upon the emblematic African safari, guided by the expert Maasai guides.

Confucius once asked: If you’ve come to Kenya, and haven’t gone on safari to the Maasai Mara, have you really come to Kenya at all? Ok, so maybe, we at Noma have pondered that ourselves, but we can guarantee that: Once you’ve nibbled a sandwich on a picnic blanket while hippos lazily grunt and flop in the riverbank below you; Once you’ve heard the sweet echo of uprooted grass pulled from the trunk of a wild savannah elephant; Once you’ve heard the distant rumble of the lion’s throaty roar as you tuck yourself into bed at night; You’ll soon understand — safari isn’t just an activity, it’s a way of life that invigorates us with the beauty of existence and an appreciation for creation Here in Kenya, we take it very seriously, and with Noma you will only be rolling with the best. The best wildlife reserve in Africa. The most expert guide and tracker that we have ever experienced The most authentic camp in the Mara which allows for interactions with the Maasai community, locally sourced and homestyle cooking, and true economic benefits for the Maasai community. After three weeks of soaking in the sun and waters of the Kenyan coastal paradise, you’ll take a hop-skip-and-a-jump flight to Nairobi where you’ll rest overnight in preparation for your adventures. Before dawn, Paul, our dear friend and senior tracker will pick you up and drive you to the Maasai Mara Camp. You will be warmly received at our favourite safari camp, Oseki Maasai Camp. Not only is the camp a cosy and down-home gaming experience but we love that all of the proceeds to the camp stay within the Maasai community and fund schools, healthcare and training programs.

Drop off your bags, stretch your legs and then let’s get into the wild. If you’ve ever been underwhelmed by a safari experience — you’ve never been to the Mara! This stretch of 370,000 acres is world-renowned for its exceptional numbers of African elephants, cheetahs, lions, leopards, and of course, zebra, giraffes, wildebeest, hyenas and so much more. In short, jump right into your favorite nature documentary.

The Mara is home to countless lodging possibilities that can run you upwards of $2,000 a night. For years we have been huge fans and supporters of the Oseki camp, as it is cozy, rustic, and the only option in the Mara that is actually owned and directed by the Maasai community. The Oseki lodge is Mara homestyle-glamping. Read: big fluffy beds inside tastefully decorated safari tents, equipped with their own bathrooms built of exposed stone, and lovely porches to sit and gaze across the rolling hills and tree-dotted savannah. Are we there yet?

You’ll enjoy three home-cooked meals per day. All food is locally-sourced and traditionally prepared by Maasai community members. If you’ve never had a traditional Kenyan BBQ, this is an epic way to begin. And if you’re a vegetarian, no problem, we’ve got plenty of delicious options for you.
