Alumni Spotlight: Nora Thomas

Five Editions. Four continents. One very clear conclusion: once you go Noma, you don't stop. We sat down with Nora Thomas, PR and Marketing professional, serial nomad, and one of our most-returned alumni.

First, Tell Us About Your Work

Nora runs the communications function for a mid-size lifestyle brand based in New York, fully remotely. She handles everything from press outreach and influencer partnerships to brand narrative and crisis communications.

PR is a relationship business. You'd think remote working would kill that, but actually, when I'm on an Edition, I do my best relationship work. I'm energised, I'm confident, and the interesting location always gives me something to talk about.

Why Did You Come Back Five Times?

The first time was curiosity. The second was because the first one was better than I expected. By the third, I realised the community was something I genuinely couldn't replicate on my own. These are people who understand the life I live without needing it explained.

What Has Changed for You Professionally?

  • Two of her current retainer clients came directly from Noma connections
  • She launched a freelance side practice after being encouraged by Edition cohort members
  • Her productivity on Editions consistently outperforms her months at home
  • She negotiated a fully remote arrangement with her employer partly using language she picked up from Noma community discussions

Nora's next Edition? She's already booked. We'll let her tell you where when the time comes.
